South Africa are out of the continental competition following some late drama in their last-four game against the Super Falcons.

Banyana Banyana will not be able to defend their Women's Africa Cup of Nations crown after they were eliminated from the tournament at the semi-final stage by Nigeria at Larbi Zaouli Stadium on Tuesday.

Desiree Ellis's girls lost 2-1 in a match which saw midfielder Gabriela Salgado being stretchered off the pitch with "a serious injury during the game and was rushed to hospital immediately after the incident," according to SAFA chief medical officer Dr Thulani Ngwenya.

    Hardluck Banyana...I don't blame our keeper, any goalkeeper could have made that mistake, she thought the ball would change direction but unfortunately for us those players didn't make contact with the ball.
