Evidence Makgopa gave Orlando Pirates the lead with a brilliant strike in the second minute - having been set up by defender Thabiso Sesane - leaving SuperSport United rattled at the Orlando Stadium.

The Buccaneers kept their great momentum and created notable chances but failed to make use of them.

As the game progressed, Matsatsantsa showed resilience with former Pirates star Vincent Pule scoring in the 26th minute. However, his goal was ruled as an offside.

The two teams went to the half-time break with the Buccaneers in the driving seat.

Jose Riveiro's side started the second-half on a high note, creating plenty of chances but they could not capitalise on them.

Deon Hotto then sealed Pirates' 2-0 win when he netted in stoppage time with a hard and low shot.

The win meant that Pirates climbed up to the top of the PSL standings - having won all four of their opening league games.

    THE MVP

Relebohile Mofokeng was on top of his game on the night. He tortured the SuperSport United defence with his sharp movement throughout his time on the pitch.

Although he did not score or assist, he deserves a shout-out for his impressive performance.

    THE BIG LOSER

Following a heavy defeat against Kaizer Chiefs in the Carling Knockout, Gavin Hunt was looking to bounce back against Pirates but things did not go his way as his side recorded a third consecutive defeat across all competitions.

The outspoken mentor should be worried about his job considering that his side's next match is against a red-hot Chiefs side.
