    Departs Simba SC

Fadlu Davids made a surprise departure from Tanzanian giants Simba SC, with his final match in charge of Wekundu Wa Msimbazi coming in Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Gaborone United.

The former Orlando Pirates assistant coach did not travel back to Tanzania with the squad following the CAF Champions League preliminary round first-leg clash. Instead, he proceeded to finalise his return to Raja Club Athletic, stepping in after the exit of head coach Lassaad Chabbi, and was officially unveiled by the Moroccan outfit on Monday, 22 September.

    Davids reveals objectives

“It’s a fantastic feeling to be back home - a club where we have a good rapport and have received a warm welcome from the players already. I hope we can have a successful season. The atmosphere within the club is different and very professional, from the top all the way down,” Davids was quoted by FARPost.

“We want to cultivate that excitement throughout the club. We had a fantastic start to the training and received a positive response from the players. Now, we have to take this feeling, motivation, and professionalism to the pitch and into the entire club.

“With a big team like Raja, with an ambitious coach like me, I want to go for every trophy that is available of course. It starts with the Botola, we have to try to win every game,” he concluded.

Technical team members move over to Morocco

Davids didn’t depart Simba SC alone, he’s at Raja surrounded by a familiar support cast. Former Pirates performance analyst and interim assistant coach Darian Wilken has taken up the role of assistant coach, while ex-Buccaneers goalkeeper coach Wayne Sandilands oversees the Moroccan giants’ custodians.

Adding further South African flair to the technical team, Mueez Kajee steps in as video analyst and Durell Butler, who previously served at Moroka Swallows, takes charge as fitness trainer.

    Straight into league action

With his objectives clearly laid out, Davids will be eager to hit the ground running as Raja sit fourth on the Botola Pro league table, having collected four points from their opening two fixtures.

The Moroccan giants now turn their attention to their next challenge, an away clash against Difaâ El Jadidi, scheduled for Sunday, 28 September.
