Former Mamelodi Sundowns & Orlando Pirates star Andile Jali advised to leave Chippa United - 'How many people are at his level at the Chilli Boys?'

The experienced 34-year-old midfielder joined Chippa United from the defunct Moroka Swallows.

However, he came in as a free agent after the Dube Birds had terminated his contract for what they termed as a disciplinary breach.

Prior to joining the Chiili Boys in the summer, the former Bafana Bafana star had stayed for more than six months without a team.

It took Jali some time to get back to match fitness after an extended period outside, on the sidelines.

The versatile midfielder further missed some games due to injuries.

This season, he has played 12 games across all competitions, with 10 coming in the Premier Soccer League where he has also scored two goals.

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye insists Jali can still deliver for the biggest teams, despite the struggles and scandals that led to his exit from Sundowns and later Swallows.

“Andile has been through a lot; Andile has more or less been through what I have been through he had bad scandals. I think that’s probably why he left Sundowns. I mean his reputation suffered," Khanye said on iDiski Times.

"He was playing for a big team just like me when I left Kaizer Chiefs going to Platinum Stars. You want to do more because at the back of your mind you have that thing that I have hurt people who love me and somehow also ruined my career, too many frustrations.

"He is going through a lot. Remember moving from Sundowns and going to Chippa you have dropped too much because of their log position and also how many players are at his level there. Andile has to mature at the age he is now.

"If [Lionel] Messi and [Cristiano] Ronaldo are still the best scoring and captaining their countries - and I’m not saying he is doing bad things now because Andile is one of the best midfielders. If he can move away there and get a different team he still has more to offer and get a proper personal trainer," Khanye concluded.

Chippa United hope to finish inside the top eight this season after failing to achieve the fete in the 2023/24 season.

They are currently placed 11th on the Premier Soccer League table with 18 points from 15 outings.

It will be interesting to see whether Jali will remain at the club beyond this season.
