Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune explains why he rates under-fire Ranga Chivaviro highly - 'He used to bring the best out of me'

Itumeleng Khune, the former national team player and Kaizer Chiefs captain, has transitioned from the field to the studio, now working as an analyst for SABC Sport.

During his analysis of the recent Kaizer Chiefs versu SuperSport United match, he expressed his admiration for striker Ranga Chivaviro, who found the back of the net in the game.

The accomplished goalkeeper highlighted how much he rates Chivaviro and credited the striker for pushing him to perform at his best during their time together at Naturena.

He emphasized the positive impact the striker brings to the Amakhosi squad with his skill and presence on the pitch. Khune’s support reflects his belief that the forward will play a crucial role for Chiefs moving forward.

"He is playing a huge role in making sure that as a striker, you have to finish a game with a goal or with a shot at goal,” Khune said on SABC Sport

“He is the type of striker that likes to take shots at goal and that's what I like about him. I used to bring the best out of him at training and he used to bring the best out of me.

So, I am happy to see him doing well.”

The 31-year-old striker has been making an impact for Amakhosi, with three goals across all competitions so far.

His performances have caught the attention of the Zimbabwe national team coach, who sees him as a valuable option for their squad.

With Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos showing no interest in calling him up, the striker’s international future seems to lie with Zimbabwe.
