    Tinkler's winning strategy

"I think first and foremost the planning, you know, leading up to the game, analysing Chiefs, and we know that so far this season they've actually been a very, very good team, a difficult team to beat," Tinkler said in his post-match reaction.

"I think they are a rejuvenated team, and they are playing a lot better football than they did in previous seasons, so we knew this game was going to be extremely tough,” he added.

“Everything we've done in training came out on the pitch today. Chiefs like to play this very, very high line, and because of that high line, they can be punished.”

    High-stakes encounter

This was a high-stakes game given that both Chiefs and Sekhukhune United were unbeaten before. In addition, both were looking for points that would have taken them back to the top of the table.

In the end, it is Babina Noko who prevailed as Chiefs' unbeaten record ended and Sekhukhune's run was preserved.

After a close, tight run that involved Chiefs and Sekhukhune from when the season started, the gap was widened to six points between them. Tinkler's side reclaimed the top position with two more points than second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns.
