    WHAT HAPPENED?

Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo has urged the club's fans to be patient with new shot-stopper Fiacre Ntwari.

There has been a section of the Glamour Boys supporters that has been critical of Ntwari's performances in the first four games.

The Rwanda international kept only one clean sheet from four matches so far and some have questioned his capabilities.

However, Khuzwayo, who once had to deal with the pressure from fans as a keeper, believes it's early days to judge Ntwari.

    WHAT KHUZWAYO SAID

"Based on the performances that he has so far, I believe Kaizer Chiefs have got a good goalkeeper in Ntwari. He is as good as Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Petersen. Ntwari must also be given a chance like others before judging him," Khuzwayo told GOAL.

"Okay he has conceded a few goals or to say he only kept a cleansheet in only one game out of four, but remember, goalkeeping goes behind this thing of keeping a clean sheet. We have had a lot of goalkeepers who achieved a lot with the club, but they were also not keeping a cleansheet each and every game.

"Yes, pressure will always be there for Ntwari because Chiefs had good goalkeepers like (Brian) Baloyi, (Emile) Baron, Brilliant Khuzwayo, (Itumeleng) Khune, and others. So, when a goalkeeper comes he will be expected to be good because of the history of the club.

"However, let's give him a chance, he has done good so far. It is still early to judge him, people must understand that someone should be given a chance.

"He has just arrived and is still adapting. So let's give him a chance. I know there are journalists, supporters, club legends and all these people, who expect a lot from you because you are playing for Chiefs, but he has done good so far."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Ntwari joined Chiefs at the start of the 2024-25 season from TS Galaxy. He has become a first-choice goalkeeper in Nasreddine Nabi's team.

The 25-year-old goalie faces stiff competition at the Soweto giants - having found experienced keeper, Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Petersen in the team.

When he joined the Naturena-based giants, the Kigali-born stopper was tipped to be a direct replacement for Bafana Bafana legend Itumeleng Khune, who saw his playing time at the club come to an end.

    WHAT NEXT FOR NTWARI?

Following a good game against SuperSport United, Ntwari will be aiming to keep his second clean sheet against the same opponent, should he start in the game.

Looking for their third win in the PSL, Chiefs will face off against Matsatsantsa on Saturday afternoon at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium.
