    Did Chiefs approach Makgalwa?

Sekhukhune United winger Keletso Makgalwa has responded to rumours he was close to leaving the Premier Soccer League side.

The Bafana Bafana winger was among the players who attracted much speculation during the just-closed transfer window. He was linked with Kaizer Chiefs and even Tunisian giants, Esperance, but in the end, he did not leave.

    Just rumours

“No, I don’t know anything about this thing. I think there were just rumours. For me, it was just rumours. No team has ever approached me,” he told FARPost.

    Big Three dream

However, the 28-year-old has revealed his ambition is to one day feature for one of the PSL giants. Given their history, achievements, investments, and size of their fanbases, Orlando Pirates, Chiefs, and Mamelodi Sundowns are considered the PSL Big Three.

“Of course, my ambition is to see myself in one of the Big Three or maybe in Africa; you will never know," Makgalwa added.

    Speculation

The forward, who was nominated for the 2024/25 PSL Players’ Player of the Season and Footballer of the Season awards, had been rumoured to have bade farewell to his Sekhukhune teammates. This was, according to reports, in anticipation of departure from the club during the transfer window.

It is understood that Babina Noko see the Bafana forward as one of their key assets and would like to build the team around him.

He has played pivotal roles since he joined Sekhukhune on a three-year deal from Upington City FC after mutually parting ways with Sundowns.

    Unsettled at Sundowns

Although he was part of the Tshwane giants before, he did not settle and failed to become one of its key players. This resulted in a number of loan moves in search of playtime.

Maritzburg United, Moroka Swallows, TS Galaxy, and All Stars are among the clubs he served on loan from Masandawana.

But it was during his time at Upington City FC in the 2023/24 season in the Motsepe Foundation Championship that Makgalwa impressed. He scored 11 goals and provided seven assists, and this convinced Sekhukhune to sign him.

He was instrumental in his first stint at Babina Noko, scoring six goals and registering eleven assists across all competitions.
