    WHAT HAPPENED?

Former Kaizer Chiefs forward Junior Khanye has claimed Jayden Adams is not a suitable player for Premier Soccer League giants Mamelodi Sundowns.

Khanye said there is too much pressure at Sundowns, and the Bafana midfielder instead should have made a move elsewhere where he could have enjoyed regular minutes.

    WHAT KHANYE SAID

"To be honest, we haven't seen the best of Jayden Adams at Mamelodi Sundowns," Khanye told KickOff.

"In my opinion, his best performances were at Stellenbosch FC. Currently, he experiences ups and downs; sometimes he starts the game, and other times he doesn't."

"The Jayden Adams we saw at Stellenbosch was a marvel to watch; he was a very dangerous player. From Stellenbosch, he should have moved to Europe," he added.

"However, at Sundowns, there are huge expectations, which is why he often comes on as a substitute, and when he does, he isn't making a significant impact. Adams is indeed very talented, but it's crucial for players to understand where they truly belong."

    WHAT IS MORE

Khanye believes that Adams' rivals at the club are far better than him, and for that reason, he may not feature regularly for the Tshwane giants.

"I don't think the environment at Sundowns suits him. The players he is competing with are not just any ordinary players," Khanye claimed.

"Adams lacks the character needed to succeed at big teams. He is talented, but he shows inconsistency. As a coach, I would never choose to play Jayden Adams over Siphelele Mkhulise or Neo Maema."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Masandawana signed the Bafana midfielder from Stellenbosch in the January transfer window.

The midfielder has found the back of the net on three occasions in 17 matches across all competitions.

    WHAT NEXT FOR ADAMS?

Given the competition at Sundowns, eyes will be on the South African midfielder to see whether he can fight and edge out his rivals for more regular appearances next season.

As Masandawana will be chasing more titles next season, a larger pool with very rich options will be needed in order to successfully chase titles. And for that matter, Adams' presence is crucial.
