    WHAT HAPPENED?

    Kaizer Chiefs have had a busy pre-season, traveling to the Netherlands where they played five training matches against Vitesse, Utrecht, NEC Nijmegen, PEC Zwolle and FC Twente. 

    Now, discussions are underway for a potential friendly against Rwandan champions APR FC in Kigali, as the hosts gear up for a demanding season that includes CAF Champions League action.

    "We have many teams that we are in contact with but we have not decided and we are planning carefully, I will find out the dates and teams as soon as possible,” Club chairman Brig Den Den Rusanganwa told New Times.

    Furthermore, Rwanda Premier League 2024-25 top scorer Umar Abba departed Kigali on Wednesday, July 17, as a move to the South African Premier Soccer League beckons.

    New Times Sport reveal that Bugesera FC have agreed terms with Polokwane City FC, with the striker flying to South Africa to finalise personal terms.

    Abba, 24, scored 17 goals last season to clinch the Golden Boot in the Rwandan top flight.

    Bugesera FC are set to pocket around $200,000 (approximately R3.65 million) for the forward, who has one year remaining on his contract.

    While Amakhosi are yet to officially confirm the friendly, the Glamour Boys will shift focus to their next assignment in the Toyota Cup. 

    Nasreddine Nabi’s side is set to face Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko SC at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday, 26 July.
