    WHAT HAPPENED?

Christian Saile Basomboli haunted his parent club Kaizer Chiefs by contributing a goal in SuperSport's 4-1 drubbing of Kaizer Chiefs in a Premier Soccer League match on Tuesday.

The Congolese forward is on loan at Matsatsantsa where he moved in January.

SuperSport coach Gavin Hunt has explained Saile's situation at SuperSport and how the loan transfer was secured.

    WHAT HUNT SAID

“Christian, he was never in our thought process. He was never in [our plans] to come here,” said Hunt as per iDiski Times.

“He just got thrown on my lap – ‘listen, Morris is going and we’re getting Saile’. [I said] ‘Oh, okay. What am I gonna do with him? I’ve got to try and find what I need to do with him’.

“But he’s got two-three goals, but he needs a lot of work. There’s a lot of things we need to do…

“But he’s not our player, I think he goes back to [Chiefs]. I’m not sure, I’m not in the board room.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Saile has so far scored two goals in six appearances in the PSL and Nedbank Cup for SuperSport which could leave the Soweto giants reflecting on their decision to loan out the 25-year-old.

This comes as he failed to find the back of the net for Chiefs in six games this season.

After letting Saile go to Matsatsantsa, Amakhosi coach Nasreddine Nabi might, however, take solace in that another Congolese forward and January signing Glody Lilepo has been in form with three goals in five matches.

    WHAT NEXT FOR SAILE?

Saile would be hoping to keep on with his scoring form at SuperSport and convince Nabi to take him back next season.

That could also see him breaking into the DR Congo national team set-up ahead of the Afcon 2025 finals in Morocco later this year.
