Mamelodi Sundowns collected yet another win over Kaizer Chiefs when they beat the Soweto giants by a solitary goal on Saturday afternoon in the Premier Soccer League outing at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium.

Amakhosi were keen on avenging the initial two losses - 2-1 in the league and 4-0 in the Carling Knockout quarter-final.

The Glamour Boys pushed hard to get a goal, but they did not capitalise on the many chances they had in the final third.

They were punished in the 41st minute when Iqraam Rayners beat the defense before passing the ball to Lucas Ribeiro, who beautifully set himself up before smashing a rocket past Bruce Bvuma to score his 12th goal in the PSL.

Even after the break, Sundowns had some good chances to double their advantage, but Bvuma rose for the occasion.

Amakhosi will blame themselves for indecisiveness in the final third, especially when they had beaten the Masandawana defense.

The win ensured the defending champions hit 54 points from 20 games, while the Soweto giants remain eighth on the table with 25 points from 19 outings.

    THE MVP

For the time he was on the pitch, Lucas Ribeiro's positioning and impact created all sorts of problems for Chiefs defenders.

His goal is surely a contender for the Goal of the Season Award, owing to the way he set himself up before unleashing a rocket past Bvuma.

    THE BIG LOSER

Imagine failing to get even a draw from the same team in the three meetings in a season!

Well, Nasreddine Nabi anticipated at least a draw after falling in the initial two games against Masandawana.

However, the frustrated Tunisian couldn't get his way past the determined Brazilians.

    WHAT COMES NEXT?

Masandawana are proving that depth is nothing without quality; it explains why they have been delivering wins at will.

Their focus will be on their next game in the PSL on Wednesday against Golden Arrows.

The Glamour Boys will host Magesi FC on Tuesday, hoping to get nothing but maximum points.
