    WHAT HAPPENED?

Ranga Chivaviro scored Kaizer Chiefs' third goal in the 4-0 victory over SuperSport United in the Carling Knockout Last-16 tie at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

It was a match Chivaviro lasted 76 minutes despite being guilty of missing numerous scoring chances in the first half.

Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi justifies why he didn't take off Chivaviro when the striker was struggling in front of goal.

    WHAT NABI SAID

"But we had to make the tactical adjustment in the second-half, instead of going through the middle but going through the wide areas, which were a little bit empty on SuperSport's side," Nabi said on SuperSport TV.

"For Ranga Chivaviro, you know sometimes when a striker misses it's not easy but this is football.

“I don't need the emotional reaction like the fans, my responsibility is to support my player. I push him, I promise he will score.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Chivaviro has now scored three goals in Chiefs' last three consecutive competitive matches.

He has shown promises of getting back to being that striker who found the back of the net 17 times across competitions during the 2022-23 season for Marumo Gallants.

If he continues with his scoring form, he will be making up for last season where he managed just four goals in 22 games.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIVAVIRO?

Amakhosi return to Peter Mokaba Stadium next Saturday to face SuperSport United again but this time in a Premier Soccer League match.

Chivaviro has done enough to make himself the first-choice Chiefs forward ahead of Christian Saile Basomboli and Ashley du Preez.
