Percy Tau/Instagram Calling Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates & Mamelodi Sundowns - Percy Tau admits he would return to Premier Soccer League return on 'R450,000-a-month' salary
Qatar SCWHAT HAPPENED?
Percy Tau recently parted ways with Qatar SC after joining the club on a short-term deal in January 2025. With the club opting not to trigger the extension clause, speculation around his next move has intensified.
The attacker has since broken his silence, outlining his intentions and revealing the price tag for his next potential contract.
Qatar SCWHAT TAU SAID?
“Gauteng might not be be place, Gauteng might be the place, I’m not going to sit here and behave like I got too many options. I will listen if there are offers, I’m not ruling out anyone. There’s a lot to take in, to consider - you have to consider age, how long the contract is and then family,” Tau said on Marawa Sports Worldwide.
Tau revealed that growing up he supported Chiefs and when questioned if he would join the club he said, “If that situation were to happen, I would pay attention to it. But there are still other clubs in the PSL, I mean I played for Sundowns, so I cannot write them off. It’s a team that I played for, I won and I’ve got so much love for the team and the fans. If Sundowns were not to offer me a contract and Chiefs does, then okay, it won’t be my fault but theirs that I’ve gone to join Chiefs. But I’ll listen to anybody, let’s not rule out Orlando Pirates or even Stellenbosch, SuperSport, I will not rule out anyone. But, my decision will be based on who gives me a contract because at the end of the day I still have to support my family.
“People might say that (that they won’t be able to afford him) but now that I’m here I can speak up for myself. I’m very reasonable, so whenever I speak about my contract dealings, I’m not going to ask what I know you are not going to offer me.”
Qatar SCAND WHAT MORE?
When seasoned broadcaster Robert Marawa played out a scenario of a contract offer of R450,000 per month for a two-year contract with an option to extend, Tau responded, “Perfect, yes.”
He explained that while some may doubt if local clubs can afford him, he considers himself reasonable and open to fair negotiations.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
A return to the PSL could be a strategic move for Tau as he looks to reignite his international career. Regular game time on home soil would put him firmly back in the spotlight, potentially catching the eye of Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos.
With the Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 Fifa World Cup on the horizon, Tau will be eager to prove he still has plenty to offer.
Qatar SCWHAT’S NEXT FOR TAU?
With Tau laying his cards on the table, the ball is now in the court of potential suitors.
His openness to returning to the PSL, paired with a clear price tag and willingness to listen to any offer, signals that he’s ready for his next chapter.
