    WHAT HAPPENED?

The Soweto Derby is one of the most popular derbies in Africa owing to its fierce rivalry.

This season, South Africans will have the opportunity of cheering either Orlando Pirates or Kaizer Chiefs on Februray 1.

The Buccaneers will be the hosts in that particular game to be played at the FNB Stadium.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Bucs have done quite well this season in the Premier Soccer League as opposed to the Glamour Boys.

They are trailing the defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns by three points after 11 games, from which they have lost two.

Amakhosi have played 12 games and managed 18 points, nine less than second-placed Pirates.

Prior to the Soweto Derby, Chiefs have a league assignment against Sekhukhune United before facing minnows Free Agents in the Nedbank Cup's Round of 32.

It explains why the club's assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef is not overly concerned with the game against Bucs.

    WHAT YOUSSEF SAID

“For us, there is Sekhukhune, after that [there] is a Cup game but we have to focus on Sekhukhune, when we finish with Sekhukhune we think about cup game," he told the media.

"Then we can discuss about the derby, but now we have Sekhukhune. We manage game by game, week by week.

"We don’t think about next month or derby, the team is focussed on managing the next game. When it’s the week of the derby I can answer for you what we have to prepare for the derby," Youssef concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

After a shock loss against Golden Arrows, Chiefs hope to dig deeper against Babina Noko and get maximum points.

However, they will be aiming at silencing Free Agents in the Nedbank Cup to avoid another shocker just like last season when they fell against Milford FC.
