    In what could be a big blow to Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, Bafana Bafana defender Fawaaz Basadien has revealed he is happy at Stellenbosch FC.

    Basadien stated that he is enjoying football at his current club and that is the main reason he has been doing well.

    WHAT BASADIEN SAID

    “I’m enjoying my football at the moment; that’s the reason [playing for the national team] why I’m doing well,” Basadien said, as per FARPost.

    “So, I’m enjoying my football, and also the environment I’m in brings out the best in me. That’s why I’m leaving my life very well now."

    Basadien believes that good performances with Stellenbosch are what have made him part of the national team on numerous occasions.

    “For me, I’m always grateful to be part of the national team. It’s always every player’s dream to be part of the national team,” Basadien added.

    “And at the moment, where the team is doing well, is a plus for me. But also I should give credit to the team because it’s doing well. Once a team does well, the individuals [are noticed], that’s why I’m part of the Bafana Bafana team.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    Since he signed for Stellies before the 2022-23 season began, he has turned out to be one of the dependable players for the Western Cape side.

    So crucial has he been that he has been linked with the PSL heavyweights Pirates, Chiefs, and Sundowns.

    The left back has played in 108 games, has eight goals, and has 17 assists, just showing how effective he is when it comes to goal output despite his position on the pitch.

    His performances have also not gone unnoticed by the Bafana Bafana head coach, Hugo Broos, who has always named him in his squad. At the national level, he mainly competes with Aubrey Modiba, and should he join Masandawana, the rivalry will intensify.
