    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs defender Rushwin Dortley, who was one of Bafana Bafana's standout players during the recent 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, is determined to make a remarkable impact on the club's legacy.

Dortley has swiftly established himself as a key figure at Amakhosi, making a significant impact since his transfer from Cape Town Spurs at the beginning of the 2024/25 season.

    WHAT DORTLEY SAID

"Everyone's dream is to go overseas, everyone would say Europe but there are different countries in Europe, you kinda say you want to go to Europe, but I think for me is to play in a good league overseas," Dortley told the media.

"My goal is to play at the highest level football has to offer one day. But my short-term goal is to give my best to Kaizer Chiefs.

"I want to win trophies because that is what the team has been missing and to give my 100% and my all to the club."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Dortley spent four seasons with Cape Town Spurs' senior team after he was promoted from the club's academy in 2020. He stood out as a bright spark for the Urban Warriors in the 2023/24 campaign.

The 22-year-old has quickly established himself as a key player in the Bafana Bafana squad, making appearances in six matches for the team since September.

Before joining Hugo Broos' team, the former South Africa junior international captained South Africa at the 2024 Cosafa Cup while he was still at Cape Town Spurs.

    WHAT NEXT FOR DORTLEY?

Considering Dortley's outstanding displays for both Bafana and Chiefs, it wouldn't be surprising if he starts drawing attention from European clubs soon.

For now, the left-footed player's focus will be on helping the Glamour Boys win trophies under the guidance of Nasreddine Nabi.
