    WHAT HAPPENED?

Royal AM's ongoing legal battles have compelled the PSL to postpone the Nedbank Cup Round of 32 match between Thwihli Thwahla and Milford FC.

The Premier Soccer League team was set to face Stallions in the KwaZulu-Natal derby at Harry Gwala Stadium on January 27.

Nevertheless, that match has yet to be played due to the ongoing legal battle between Royal AM and the South African Revenue Service (Sars).

On Tuesday afternoon, the league confirmed that this fixture has been postponed.

    WHAT PSL SAID

"In light of the latest legal developments, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) has no choice but to postpone Nedbank Cup match number 21 (Royal AM/Milford FC vs. Sekhukhune United) until a date to be confirmed," the PSL stated.

"PSL apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause to affected Member Groups, PSL partners, and supporters.

"Further updates will be communicated as soon as the issues impacting the fixture have been clarified. The league will not make further comments on the matter until then."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The PSL ought to make every effort to guarantee that the fixture between Milford and Royal at least occurs later this week before the draw for the quarter-finals.

The Nedbank Cup enters the Round of 16 starting Wednesday evening, with SuperSport United going up against Cape Town Spurs at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

More matches will take place leading up to Sunday, with teams such as Kaizer Chiefs battling Chippa United while Mamelodi Sundowns are prepared to clash with ABC Motsepe League team Mpheni home defenders.

    WHAT NEXT?

Sekhukhune will not participate this week in the Nedbank Cup unless Royal AM and Sars manage to resolve their legal matters.

Following the conclusion of the Nedbank Cup Round of 16 games, the draw for the last eight will take place on Monday.
