    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs reserve side beat Orlando Pirates 1-0 to top the DStv Diski Challenge on Sunday.

Amakhosi are a point clear at the summit with a game in hand as they seek to win this competition and represent the league at an emerging stars tournament in England.

Chiefs DDC captain Aden McCarthy is confident they will be crowned champions.

    WHAT MCCARTHY SAID

“First starting this month, we knew it would be difficult as a team,” McCarthy said as per iDiski Times.
“I got selected for the Bafana Bafana Chan team so we knew few players would be going, and now we have almost six in the starting line-up that went to Under-20 camp.
“It’s just about managing the whole thing, next few games will be very important for three points. We gonna win this league, and we wanna book a flight to England.
“I would say it’s our next three finals, we gonna take it as it comes and collect the three points," added the Bafana Bafana fringe player.
“Our mentality as a team is to win and keep a clean sheet and that’s what we do.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

While the Amakhosi reserve outfit is on course to be crowned champions in their league, the same cannot be said about the senior team.

Nasreddine Nabi's first team has been struggling for consistency and that has left them at risk of finishing the season outside the top eight.

The Tunisian coach will be hoping that some DDC players will graduate and add value to his team.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

Amakhosi's DDC side face a testing time in their next two games in which they face second-placed Stellenbosch and SuperSport United who are third on the table.

Meanwhile, the first team have a trip to Golden Arrows on Saturday as they try to recover from the last two Premier Soccer League matches they failed to win.
