    WHAT HAPPENED?

Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sipho Ndzuzo has questioned the club's sporting director Flemming Berg's abilities and criticized him for Masandawana's recent poor displays, believing it might affect the club in the upcoming 2025 Fifa Club World Cup.

The Tshwane giants parted ways with Rhulani Mokwena at the end of last season, and recently dismissed Manqoba Mngqithi, subsequently bringing in Cardoso.

Since the arrival of the 52-year-old coach in December 2024, Masandawana have seemingly been performing poorly compared to how they did under Mokwena and Mngqithi, although the club has been collecting positive results.

Berg, who joined the Tshwane giants in 2022, is believed to have driven all the recent changes at the club. Numerous individuals have already criticized the Danish administrator, and Ndzuzo has also voiced his concerns regarding the club's sporting director.

    WHAT WAS SAID

"Things are not convincing. Sundowns is not performing well right now, and it's concerning. I'm worried about how we will fare in the FIFA Club World Cup," Ndzuzo told KickOff.com.

"I wish we still had Rulani Mokwena, Manqoba Mngqithi, and Pitso Mosimane in the same technical team. Sundowns could have been at their best heading into the Club World Cup.

"But now we are losing confidence in the team. I’m not sure we can make a mark there under the current coach. The same players are still here, yet we are not performing at our best. Right now, we’re all admiring what Orlando Pirates is doing," explained the retired footballer.

"Considering the salaries Sundowns pays its players, we shouldn't even be comparing ourselves to Pirates. It doesn't make sense why they are currently performing better than us," he added.

"This situation is going to reflect on the Sundowns sporting director. Is he the right person for the job? Why are we shifting to something that is not visually impressive? Watching Sundowns these days, you can sense that something is not right; it’s as if we are out of sync. We are not singing together as a choir. It doesn’t look like we are heading in the right direction. In the past two years, we have changed coaches too many times."
