Bayern Munich's summer has been defined by the club drawing clear lines on its most valuable assets. CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen publicly dismissed any prospect of selling Michael Olise, stating he received zero contact from Real Madrid despite weeks of speculation linking the French winger to a move to Spain. Dreesen was equally blunt about Luis Diaz, who has attracted reported interest from Al-Hilal with a potential offer of up to 150 million euros and a salary of around 25 million euros per year. Bayern paid 70 million euros for Diaz just last summer, and after a debut season of 26 goals and 23 assists in 51 appearances, the club has no intention of letting him go.

On the pitch, pre-season has started with a bump. Bayern lost their opening friendly 2-1 to third-division Wehen Wiesbaden, though the result carries limited weight given the heavily depleted squad available to Vincent Kompany. Several key players are still working back from injury or post-World Cup rest. Jamal Musiala, who broke his fibula last July and had a metal plate removed after the tournament, is expected to return to full training after the Asia trip in August. New signing Ismael Saibari, who cost 50 million euros from PSV, has been diagnosed with a muscle fibre tear sustained at the World Cup but could be ready for the Supercup against Borussia Dortmund on August 22.

In the transfer market, Bayern are close to permanently signing teenage midfielder Bara Ndiaye for under five million euros, while sell-on clause income from Nestory Irankunda could bring in a further 8.8 million euros. The club still needs to raise funds to offset its summer spending, with Joao Palhinha complicating matters by publicly stating he wants to stay.
