Avellino Overview

Massimiliano Allegri saw his severely weakened side fall to a disappointing two-goal exhibition reverse against second-tier opponents at Castel Volturno. Goals from Michael Venturi and Luca Di Maggio punished the Partenopei, who were crippled by international call-ups and an extensive injury list during an unconvincing warm-up encounter on Friday.

Serie B side Avellino have confirmed ongoing negotiations to sign former Real Madrid star James Rodriguez. The 35-year-old Colombia captain is open to playing in the Italian second tier due to his strong relationship with head coach Alessandro Nesta.
