    WHAT HAPPENED?

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Fellow former United striker Yorke is convinced that there will be no “shortage of offers” for Rooney to consider as he mulls over an immediate return to the dugout, a stint on punditry duty or a spell outside of the professional football bubble entirely.

    WHAT YORKE SAID

He will not be presented with an offer to head for the Caribbean, with Trinidad & Tobago boss Yorke telling CoinCasino when asked if he might consider bringing Rooney on board: “No, no, no I already have my staff in my management and I'm sure Rooney wouldn't come down to my level to help manage Trinidad and Tobago with me. I'm happy with where we are, but I can only wish Rooney the best and I don't think he'll have a shortage of offers in the media. He'll be alright.”

  • WHAT NEXT FOR ROONEY?

United have been advised to draft Rooney back into their ranks, as a coach for their misfiring frontmen, but it remains to be seen which road the 39-year-old will head down as he allows wife Coleen – on the back of her runner-up finish in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here – to enjoy some of the limelight for now.
