Even ahead of their 2025 FIFA Club World Cup campaign, Real Madrid had proposed postponing their opening fixture of La Liga 2025-26 against Osasuna from August 19 to October 29. However, the club's request has been reportedly turned down by La Liga, refuting claims of any agreement in case the Madrid-based teams reach the final phase of the Club World Cup.

In due course, Real Madrid will start their new Champions League campaign in September; with the first Clasico of the season against Barcelona taking place in October - in line with recent history.
