The Argentine star is a success on all fronts

Inter Miami superstar Lionel Messi has expanded his growing football empire by officially taking over Spanish second division side Eldense. The landmark deal sees the Argentina legend acquire his first professional club in Spain, though regulatory approval and existing ownership rules could yet create potential complications further down the line.

Outgoing Eldense president Carolina Holguin has issued a heartfelt appeal to Lionel Messi after the Argentine superstar completed a landmark takeover of the Spanish second-tier outfit. The Colombian executive confirmed her departure while urging the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner to honour the club's 105-year history and inspire the community.
