Relebohile Mofokeng produced a Man of the Match performance as Orlando Pirates claimed a 1-0 win over Magesi FC in Sunday's PSL encounter.

The 20-year-old scored an eye-catching goal on the stroke of half-time and he was a constant threat to the Dikwena Tsa Meetse's defence throughout the match.

Therefore, the youngster nicknamed President Yama 2000 was deservedly named Man of the Match following the encounter played at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

President Yama 2000 revealed how Pirates coach Jose Riveiro, who is a former Celta Vigo academy coach, brings out the best in him and disclosed the secret behind his stunning goal against Magesi, while also making a promise to his fans going into the year 2025.

"[Riveiro] allows me to play my football, he allows me to do everything, as long as I go forward. I know that he is the one who helps me with many things," Mofokeng told SuperSport TV.

"It was a brilliant goal. I'm happy about the goal, I was practicing it in the gym (training). I'm happy that I scored a goal that I was practicing.

"I think the important thing is to improve [in 2025]. I think I have improved a lot and the coach is also happy with my improvement. So I'm going to continue to improve. I'm going to make my fans happy and make the Pirates people happy."

President Yama 2000 is enjoying his best season since he was promoted to the Pirates first team from the club's academy midway through the 2022/23 season.

The goal against Magesi was his fifth of the season for Bucs and the attacker has also provided nine assists in 22 matches including 20 across all competitions.

With FC Barcelona's B side believed to be interested in Mofokeng, it remains to be seen whether the Spanish side will make an offer for the talented player in the upcoming January transfer window.

Mofokeng and his Pirates teammates have turned their attention to Saturday's Caf Champions League Group C match against Stade d'Abidjan in Soweto.

A win for the Buccaneers would see them boost their ambitions of advancing to the knockout phase of Africa's premier club football tournament.
