How ex-Orlando Pirates star Teko Modise helped Patrick Maswanganyi play his best football for Bafana Bafana

Patrick Maswanganyi has become the center of attention as fans and pundits debate whether he can step up at the international level and fill the gap left by Themba Zwane’s injury.

The Orlando Pirates midfielder proved his worth, scoring off the bench against Uganda and netting again on Tuesday against South Sudan, capping off an impressive international break.

Former Mamelodi Sundowns maestro Teko Modise, speaking on SuperSport, shared his thoughts on Maswanganyi’s rise.

"I have spoken to Tito (Patrick Maswanganyi) personally, and I said he becomes so dangerous whenever he plays in and around the box. All these other things, they are nice on the eye, but at the end of the day, if you want to be a Bafana Bafana player, a regular Bafana Bafana player, you need to be in and around the box. With his creativity and skill, you need to be scoring goals, and I am glad he scored his second goal for Bafana," said Modise on SuperSport after the Bafana game.

Maswanganyi now has a chance to solidify his place in the squad under Hugo Broos.

Consistent performances will ensure he remains a strong contender for the flight to Morocco in December 2025. His ability to perform on the international stage demonstrates his readiness for bigger challenges ahead.
