Sporting director Max Eberl has made it plain that Joao Palhinha, Sacha Boey and Bryan Zaragoza have no future at the club, with all three removed from the official squad listing on the club's website. Aston Villa have been linked with Palhinha, though Bayern remain cautious about a deal materialising, with the clubs far apart on a fee. Newcastle United have also emerged as a potential destination following Bruno Guimaraes's expected move to Arsenal. Boey's return from Galatasaray was forced by Turkish league registration rules rather than a change of heart, and no buyer has yet come forward. Zaragoza, recovering from a knee injury in Munich, faces the added obstacle of a salary that Spanish clubs are reluctant to match. Kompany has asked that all three be treated with respect while the club works through the window.

On the pitch, Bayern are midway through their Asia Tour. A 15-0 friendly win over FC Rottach-Egern was followed by a 2-1 victory over Jeju SK on Tuesday, with the squad missing nine players through World Cup rest or injury, including Harry Kane, Michael Olise, Dayot Upamecano and Jamal Musiala. Eight academy players travelled to fill the gaps, with 16-year-old Bastian Assomo catching the eye after scoring within minutes of coming on against Rottach-Egern.

Off the pitch, Eberl's position has strengthened considerably. Uli Hoeness has confirmed a contract extension is effectively agreed, describing the transfer window as perfect following the arrivals of Ismael Saibari and Nathaniel Brown. The Bundesliga season opens with the Supercup against Borussia Dortmund on 22 August.
