    WHAT HAPPENED?

    Leeds secured the 3-0 win at Elland Road this afternoon, as Blues fans hurled chants at the former Manchester United and Everton man, who could only watch on as his side recorded their ninth defeat across his 15-games in charge at the club.

    The chants heard from the travelling aways fans were: “Get out of our club, get out of our club, Wayne Rooney, get out of our club.”

  • WHAT ROONEY SAID

    Speaking to BirminghamLive after the defeat, Rooney was asked about the chants made by his own fans, “Not the result we wanted. Knew it was going to be a tough game. Started well until the first goal. Caused them problems in transition. Not clinical enough with the opportunities we had.

    “First goal big difference to the game. Changed the system with three CBs. Cannot leave Bamford free in the six-yard box because he will punish you. I am a fighter and I get football is about opinions.

    Rooney was appointed to the role at St Andrews in October 2023, after the club decided to part ways with John Eustace, who had guided them to sixth in the Championship table.

    The Blues now sit in 20th, just four points off the relegation zone.
