According to The Athletic, Mendy is set to take part in team training at Real Madrid this week for the first time in nearly half a year. The French full-back has been sidelined since April 26, when he ruptured a proximal tendon in his right quadriceps just minutes into the Copa del Rey final defeat against Barcelona. After undergoing surgery four days later, his recovery period was initially estimated at around 10 to 12 weeks, but setbacks extended his absence for long.
The 30-year-old’s rehabilitation has now reached its final phase, and Madrid’s medical staff are gradually reintegrating him into group sessions. The club intend to monitor his workload closely to avoid any recurrence, especially given his track record of recurring muscle injuries.
