Rasmus Hojlund seals Man Utd exit! Striker joins fellow Old Trafford exile Scott McTominay in Serie A as Napoli confirm loan deal with €44m option

Hojlund moves to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in a deal which also includes a conditional obligation to buy next summer for €44 million (£38m/$51m), according to The Athletic. The report claims the clause will be activated if Napoli qualify for the Champions League next season.

Denmark international Hojlund was surplus to requirements at United after being left out of the squad for their opening four Premier League fixtures. The 22-year-old, who scored 10 goals in 52 appearances in all competitions in 2024-25, had previously expressed his desire to stay and fight for a place at Old Trafford.

Hojlund's switch to Napoli will see him reunite with former United team-mate Scott McTominay, who has been a revelation since moving to Italy in the summer of 2024. The Scotland midfielder scored 12 goals in 34 Serie A appearances in 2024-25 as Antonio Conte's men pipped Inter to the league title.

Hojlund could make his debut when Napoli take on Fiorentina in the league on September 13, following the conclusion of the international break. Meanwhile United are next in action when they face rivals Manchester City in the derby on September 14.
