Man Utd 'send official' to Napoli with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia yet to agree terms on bumper new contract with Antonio Conte's side

The Red Devils are thought to be interested in both Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and team-mate Alessandro Buongiorno and sent an official to watch the duo against Empoli, according to Tuttomercatoweb. United will have received a good report from the match too. Kvaratskhelia scored the winner from the penalty spot, while Buongiorno also put in a strong showing as Napoli kept a clean sheet to take all three points.

Kvaratskhelia was heavily linked with a move to PSG in the summer but stayed at Napoli and has been in talks over a new contract. The winger's current deal expires in 2027 but he certainly won't come cheap even if Napoli can be convinced to sell. The Serie A side are also thought to be keen to put a release clause of €100m (£83m/$108m) in any new contract, while Buongiorno is valued at around €70m £58m/$75m).

Kvaratskhelia is one of only two players - alongside Christian Pulisic - to have scored at least 10 goals and provided at least five assists in Serie A since the start of 2024

Manchester United may well decide to keep tabs on both Kvaratskhelia and Buongiorno as the season progresses as they look for potential new signings. The Red Devils did spend heavily last summer on new players but have failed to impress so far in the 2024-25 campaign and currently sit in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
