'Wow, we're cursed!' - Man Utd fans can't believe it as Rasmus Hojlund scores on his Napoli debut after Old Trafford exit

  • A clinical finish past an old foe

The Dane’s moment arrived midway through the first half. Leonardo Spinazzola spotted the striker’s clever movement in behind the defence and threaded a perfectly weighted ball through. Hojlund sprinted clear, kept his cool, and slotted past none other than David de Gea with a strike that squeezed into the bottom corner despite the keeper’s desperate touch.

    Goals flowing again for Hojlund

The strike came just days after he found the net for Denmark in their 3-0 win over Greece, meaning Hojlund has now scored in back-to-back games for club and country. His effort against Fiorentina doubled Napoli’s lead following an early Kevin De Bruyne penalty, further cementing his dream debut. After months of goal droughts and injury concerns at United, the timing of his resurgence couldn’t be more brutal for those left behind at Old Trafford.

  • United fans rage at their rotten luck

Reactions from United fans online were as predictable as they were pained.

@boivannie fumed: "Hojlund scores on his debut? Wow we’re cursed 😭😂."

Another @bigger_uncle vented: "So United was the problem."

@Houdini__1 turned his frustrations towards new arrival Benjamin Sesko, signed from RB Leipzig for £74m: "Hojlund who didnt play most of preseason or start the season with us is already starting and scoring for Napoli but Amorim is taking 600 years to start Sesko."

@August19___ summed it up with brutal humour and said: "Hojlund already balling 😂😂😂😂😂😭Manchester United might be truly cursed ."

@anugbomi added: "So Hojlund remembers how to score in back to back games."

Biggest test awaits at the Etihad

The fairytale start is just the beginning. Next week, Hojlund and Napoli head to Manchester for a blockbuster Champions League clash with Pep Guardiola’s City. It will be a test of nerve and talent against one of Europe’s most feared sides and a chance for the young striker to send an even louder message back across town to United. Should he score at the Etihad, the chorus of regret from Old Trafford will be deafening.
