  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The Ligue 1 leaders stormed into the next phase of the Champions League with a result that'll make tournament favourites Liverpool and Barcelona sit up and take notice. After finishing a disappointing 15th in the league phase, a seeded PSG side vented their frustration against fellow French outfit Brest, winning 3-0 in the first leg before running riot in Paris to secure a 10-0 victory on aggregate.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

This was PSG's biggest-ever win in a European competition according to Opta, while their opponents gained the unwelcome record of suffering the heaviest defeat for a French team in the Champions League. Having flattered to deceive in the Champions League for much of the 2024/25 campaign, the French champions will enter the last 16 with a spring in their step.

  • WHAT KVARATSKHELIA SAID

Georgia star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia — one of the seven goalscorers on the night — told Canal+ after the game: "We had to keep winning, it's not easy to win 7-0. I'm very happy, quite impressed with our team. Can we win the Champions League? That's our goal, we're going to do everything we can to do it."
