Jurgen Klopp calls on Liverpool to summon the spirit of unbelievable Barcelona comeback as Reds look to overturn three-goal Europa League deficit against Atalanta

Five years ago, the Reds showed unbelievable spirit in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final against Barcelona as they successfully overturned a three-goal deficit, clinching the tie 4-3 on aggregate and qualifying for the final.

In 2024, the Premier League giants again find themselves in similar circumstances as Atalanta clinched a comprehensive 3-0 win at Anfield last week. As the Merseyside club head to Italy ahead of the second leg, Klopp has tried to evoke the same spirit they showed against the Blaugrana in the Champions League.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday ahead of the Thursday night clash, the German manager said, "I remember that I said (in 2019): ‘If we fail, then let’s fail in a most beautiful way’ and that’s how I see it again."

After their Europa League fixture on Thursday, the Reds will shift their focus to the Premier League where they are trailing Manchester City by two points. They will be next seen in action on Sunday against Fulham.
