  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The England international was dismissed during the first-half of Los Blancos’ clash with Osasuna. Bellingham was shown a straight red for supposedly delivering a foul-mouthed volley of abuse in the direction of referee Jose Munuera Montero.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Bellingham was left stunned by the decision to send him from the field and maintains that he did not swear at any of the match officials after disagreeing with the award of a throw-in. A huge call cost Real on the day, as they saw two points slip in a 1-1 draw.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Real are planning an appeal, with Bellingham set to be ruled out of their plans for two or three matches – with a final suspension ruling set to be made by the Spanish Football Federation’s Competition Committee. As things stand, Bellingham could miss meetings with Girona, Real Betis and Rayo Vallecano.

    TELL ME MORE

According to AS, Madrid will use another Englishman – ex-Manchester United winger Greenwood – in their appeal argument. He saw a sending off overturned during a loan spell at Getafe last season after allegedly making the same "f*ck you" jibe as Bellingham – with it ruled that Greenwood had been misinterpreted.

  • WHAT NEXT?

Real will be hoping for a similar outcome in their case as they need Bellingham – with 11 goals to his name this season - to be available. Carlo Ancelotti’s side could be knocked off the top of the Liga table on Monday by Clasico rivals Barcelona.
