'It should hurt' - JJ Watt reacts immediately after watching Burnley's relegation from Premier League as he sends defiant message to fans

The Clarets suffered their 23rd defeat of the current season as they went down 2-1 against Tottenham on Saturday. Jacob Bruun Larsen opened the scoring for Vincent Kompany's side but Pedro Porro and Micky van de Ven's strikes helped Spurs register a narrow win. The defeat at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium meant that the club would go back to the Championship just a season after being promoted to the top division.

The NFL legend and Burnley co-owner was quite expectedly heartbroken to see his side bow out of the Premier League as he sent a supportive message towards the fans. He also praised his players' efforts throughout the season despite the disastrous ending.

Watt wrote on social media: "No need to hide disappointment or frustration, it should hurt. Boys made a valiant run of it the last few months, just wasn’t enough in the end. Now we go again in The Championship. Looking to relive these brilliant memories from one year ago. We go together. Up The Clarets!"

The club will now aim to end the season on a high as they face Nottingham Forest in their final game of the campaign on May 19 at Turf Moor.
