  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Sky Sports News adds that in addition to Marsch, England Under-21 boss Lee Carsley, ex-Sunderland coach Tony Mowbray and former Nottingham Forest gaffer Steve Cooper make up the shortlist. The four-man list will be narrowed down, but Cooper is unlikely to entertain an approach, as he'd rather wait for an opening in the Premier League.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Recently, Marsch admitted he has regret over turning down the Leicester City job last spring, after he was approached for the opening with the former Premier League champions. The Foxes would eventually be relegation under the stewardship of Dean Smith, who is now in charge of Charlotte FC.

WHAT NEXT FOR MARSCH AND BIRMINGHAM CITY

After falling from 6th place in the Championship to 15th under Rooney - who won just two out of 15 games with the club - the Blues are back in action at the weekend in the FA Cup against Hull City. Marsch, meanwhile, will continue his role as a CBS Soccer analyst in Europe until he finds a new managerial gig across the pond, with the latest rumor being a potential American link-up in Birmingham.
