Naughty James Maddison! Tottenham playmaker's goal celebration banned by his MUM after losing points on FPL

Maddison is known for his darts celebration but changed tack earlier this season and ended up whipping off his Tottenham shirt after scoring against Brentford. However, it's a celebration fans look unlikely to see again after the Spurs star admitted it had left him in hot water with his family. Maddison was booked for his troubles, ensuring Maddison's mum lost vital Fantasy Premier League points as she has her famous son in her team.

Maddison told reporters: "I don’t know why I took my top off. My mum text me about this actually. She said 'Keep your top on next time because I’ve got you in my Fantasy team and I got minus one for the yellow card'. Sorry mum!"

Maddison was on target again in an impressive 4-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday, but this time kept his shirt on. The 27-year-old scored a free-kick and revealed the secret to his set-piece success after the final whistle. He added: "It can be difficult sometimes, the really close ones which are right on the edge. You haven’t got as much time to get it up-and-down, so it’s why I took it a little bit quicker. Not sure if you noticed but as soon as the whistle went, I was already leaning into it, to try and catch [Emi] Martinez out a bit, because he’s a good goalkeeper."

Tottenham are back in action against Galatasaray in the Europa League on Thursday before a trip to Ipswich Town on Sunday. Fans will have to wait and see how Maddison celebrates if he is on target again for Spurs this week.
