Anfield academy graduate heads to Italy
Inter Milan have confirmed the signing of Jones from Liverpool. According to Sky Sports, the Serie A champions will pay a fixed fee of £25m plus £5m in add-ons for the midfielder, who had entered the final year of his contract. The deal, which brings an end to a long-standing relationship between Jones and his boyhood club since the age of nine, also includes a 10 per cent sell-on clause for Liverpool.
The move to the San Siro marks a significant shift for Jones, who became a reliable squad member during his time in the Premier League. After making his Liverpool first-team debut in the 2018-19 season, Jones appeared 228 times for the club, scoring 22 goals. His trophy cabinet is already well-stocked, having won two Premier League titles, two Carabao Cups, the Club World Cup, and the FA Cup during his time at Anfield.

Jones becomes the third England international to arrive at Inter this summer, following the signings of John Stones and Djed Spence. The arrivals highlight a clear strategy from the Nerazzurri, who are targeting Premier League talent to reinforce Chivu's squad for a sustained Serie A title push.
During the reign of former manager Arne Slot, Jones made 49 appearances, including 34 during the club's unsuccessful Premier League title defence. His departure leaves a void in the middle of the park, but it also provides a significant financial boost to the English club.
Anfield overhaul leaves squad light
Jones becomes the latest high-profile departure from Anfield in a busy summer of exits. His transfer follows the departures of Mohamed Salah to Trabzonspor, Ibrahima Konate to Real Madrid, and Andy Robertson to Tottenham Hotspur, marking a significant transition period for the squad.
Liverpool have yet to fully replace the outgoing stars, with their summer business currently limited to just two additions. The Reds have so far brought in defender Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes and winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna, leaving supporters eager for further marquee reinforcements before the window closes.

Liverpool's long-standing priority in this window has been reinforcing in wide areas as they prepare to open their Premier League campaign away to Newcastle United on Sunday. They have had two offers rejected by Brighton for Yankuba Minteh, the latest being worth £60m. Furthermore, Liverpool have also been pursuing a move for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola.
