  • WHAT HAPPENED?

USMNT forward McGuire was announced as a Rovers loan signing on transfer deadline day, not long after the move had initially fallen through and Sheffield Wednesday moved to nab him instead. However, The Athletic claims the transfer could be off again due to a Blackburn error in registering the 22-year-old. The report adds the Lancashire outfit are appealing the decision in this see-sawing saga.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

As things stand, McGuire will not be able to be registered to appear in Blackburn until the summer transfer window - after the Championship season finishes. The striker wanted to move to Rovers but he may end up returning to Orlando and having his plans scuppered.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

The report adds that Orlando never wanted to lose McGuire, who began his career at Lane United before moving to City in 2023. The deal that was struck between the two teams was a loan with a buy option. McGuire scored 15 goals for the MLS outfit in 2023.

Blackburn, who lost 2-1 at home to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, have reportedly said they will provide an update on the situation in the next day or two. If McGuire's transfer falls through, he can still play for Orlando this season.
