    GOALKEEPER - Reyaad Pieterse

The lanky goalkeeper starts his first continental match since 2017 when he made the line-up in a Caf Confederation Cup game for SuperSport United.

Pieterse has been selected ahead of Kennedy Mweene who kept two clean sheets in back-to-back wins over Al Ahly.

    RIGHT-BACK - Thapelo Morena

After a few recent games playing on the right side of midfield, Morena returns to the right-back position.

He steps in for Khuliso Mudau, who is not available.

    LEFT-BACK - Lyle Lakay

Arguably among the best left-backs based in Africa, the SuperSport United academy product is in good form at the moment.

Lakay has formed a great telepathic understanding with Peter Shalulile and he provided the assist for the Namibia international's goal against Al Ahly last weekend.

  • Brian Mandela, Mamelodi Sundowns, February 2022Backpagepix

    CENTRAL DEFENDER - Brian Mandela

Mosa Lebusa's injury has seen the bulky centre-back establish himself as a regular at the Chloorkop-based giants.

Mandela's aerial prowess will be important against Al Hilal, who tend to play a lot of crosses and long balls into the opposition's box.

  • Rushine De Reuck, Mamelodi Sundowns, December 2021Backpagepix

CENTRAL DEFENDER - Rushine De Reuck

The former FC Pacos de Ferreira reserve team player will be bracing himself for another battle with Al Hilal's star striker Mohamed Abdelrahman.
De Reuck was able to keep the dangerous marksman quiet in the reverse fixture as Downs defeated Al Hilal 1-0 in Rustenburg last month.

  • Teboho Mokoena, Mamelodi Sundowns, February 2022Backpagepix

    CENTRAL MIDFIELDER - Teboho Mokoena

The Bafana Bafana man starts his second Champions League match which would be a fifth appearance in the competition.

  • Andile Jali, Mamelodi Sundowns, September 2021Backpagepix

    CENTRAL MIDFIELDER - Andile Jali

The Matatiele-born star is the heartbeat of Masandawana's midfield and he has been tipped to be nominated for the 2021-22 PSL Footballer of the Season award.

Jali will be looking to dominate the midfield battle and put the Tshwane giants in a good position to defeat Al Hilal.

  • Haashim Domingo, Mamelodi Sundowns, February 2022Backpagepix

    ATTACKING MIDFIELDER - Haashim Domingo

The former Vitoria Guimaraes playmaker was able to get himself into goalscoring positions against Al Ahly, but he was let down by some poor finishing.
Domingo, who has been enjoying regular game time with Mkhulise and Sirino out injured, keeps his place in the team.

  • Peter Shalulile, Mamelodi Sundowns, December 2021Backpagepix

    LEFT FORWARD - Peter Shalulile

The versatile forward has rediscovered his scoring form in the last few weeks having scored in each of his last three matches across all competitions.

Shalulile will be confident of continuing his scoring form when he faces the Blue Wave, who defeated their Sudanese rivals Al Merrikh in their previous Group A game on March 11.

  • Themba Zwane of Mamelodi Sundowns challenged by Mohamed Ouattara of Al Hilal, February 2022Backpagepix

    RIGHT FORWARD - Themba Zwane

The influential attacker produced one of his best performances this season against Al Ahly and he was just unlucky not to score on the day.

However, Zwane netted the only goal of the match against Al Hilal last month and he will be eager to score again when he faces the 28-time Sudanese champions.

  • Lesedi Kapinga, Mamelodi Sundowns, December 2021Backpagepix

    CENTRE FORWARD - Lesedi Kapinga

Kapinga is starting in the Champions League for the second time this season, with his first start being the reverse fixture against Al Hilal in Rustenburg.
