    WHAT HAPPENED?

The 31-year-old shot-stopper is accustomed to wearing shirts bearing a number one, as he has become a go-to option between the sticks for club and country. He is the undisputed first-choice at Anfield and fills the No.1 spot on Merseyside.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Alisson has often taken on a similar role with Brazil, and is expected to provide their last line of defence when going in search of continental glory in the United States this summer. He was included from the off in a dramatic 3-2 victory over Mexico that saw Real Madrid-bound Endirck snatch a 96th-minute winner.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Alisson played the full 90 minutes when earning cap 64 for the Selecao, but did have a rather unusual number on his shirt. As the Brazilian national team are celebrating their 110th anniversary, special dispensation was granted for them to produce a unique goalkeeper jersey.
