Ben Chilwell set to STAY at Chelsea despite exile under Enzo Maresca as left-back's January transfer prospects dry up

Chilwell was one of the players who fell out of favour at Chelsea immediately after Enzo Maresca was appointed head coach last summer. The England international was advised by the new manager to find another club and was even banished from the squad.

The 28-year-old has not been able to force his way back into the first team and has featured just once for the Blues this season - a 45-minute cameo against Barrow in the first round of the Carabao Cup. A January move seemed imminent, with Juventus reportedly interested, but the Daily Mail reports that his transfer options have dried up and he looks set to stay.

The west Londoners hoped to organise a loan move for the ex-Leicester star but it appears likely he will remain in the English capital until the summer. He is contracted to the Stamford Bridge side until the summer of 2027.

With a few days still to go, Chilwell will hope a club makes a late bid to rescue him from his nightmare at Chelsea. Meanwhile, Maresca's men will prepare for their Premier League clash against West Ham on Monday.
