Wilson Oburu: One or two new players required at Bandari

Bandari team manager Wilson Oburu has hinted that there might be limited activity for the club in the upcoming transfer window.

Speaking to Goal, Oburu said the current crop of players is capable of performing excellently during the 2019/20 season.

Bandari will have additional responsibilities as they will represent Kenya in the Caf Confederation Cup after clinching the Sportpesa Shield Cup at the expense of Kariobangi Sharks.

He added that the acquisition of new players would depend on the advice of head coach Bernard Mwalala.

"The current team is in good shape and what they did in the last season was a very good job. We respect our players because of the professionalism they showed in the entire campaign. Whether we will add other players is a matter that only the head coach will recommend," Oburu said.

Bandari have also been linked with Sony Sugar's striker Derrick Otanga who netted 13 goals last season.

"We might have seen one or two players whom we feel can bring something new to the team but as a club, we will always respect their contracts with their clubs and should we decide on a move, we will follow all the legal procedures required." added the former goalkeeper.

The Dockers are expected to receive approaches for their first choice goalkeeper Farouk Shikalo who has had two outstanding seasons since joining from Posta Rangers.

Shikalo who is in France with Harambee Stars has been heavily linked with Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC and local rivals AFC Leopards.

Bandari are expected to take their pre-season training programme to South Africa. They were in Zanzibar before the 2018/19 season started.
