Kenyan Premier League round up: Bandari keen to cement second spot

The top tier's round of twenty-eight kicks-off this weekend with entertaining matches on the cards.

All eyes will be at Kasarani on Saturday where bitter rivals Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards will be settling their scores in the 84th Mashemeji Derby.

Victory for K’Ogalo will undoubtedly hand them their 17th league crown, but it will not be easy considering the fact that Ingwe will be aiming at avenging the 2-1 defeat suffered in the first leg.

At Mbaraki Stadium, Mombasa, Bandari coach Bernard Mwalala will be facing former employers Nzoia Sugar for the first time since his departure. The Dockers have been on a fine run of form, winning five games in a row to move to the second position on the table with 48 points.

Nzoia, under coach Nicholas Muyoti, has won none of its last ten league matches, since their 3-0 win against Wazito on May 27. The sugar-men are currently placed 14 on the log, with thirty-one points.

After falling 3-0 to Gor Mahia on Wednesday, 2009 league champions Sofapaka will play hosts to formless Kariobangi Sharks at Narok. The visitors have lost five matches in a row since that 5-2 win against Tusker FC in July.

Batoto ba Mungu have not been better either, they have collected just four points from their last five games. Red hot Sony Sugar will be aiming at making it six wins in a row against Tusker FC at Awendo.

Chemelil will also host Ulinzi Stars, who are yet to score a single goal in their last four matches, where they have lost three of those. In other matches, Nakumatt will lock horns against Posta Rangers while Kakamega Homeboyz will face relegation threatened Wazito.

On Sunday, Thika United will face off with Vihiga United while Zoo Kericho will come up against Mathare United.
