Robert Mapigano flopped in the first leg&nbsp;against USM Alger. He made several mistakes but the notable ones were the two goals he caused. The Tanzanian had conceded eight goals in four matches and changes were inevitable.
Fredrick Odhiambo was given a chance to impress on Sunday but it took him less than five minutes to make a costly blunder which gave the visitors an away goal. The custodian has not been involved for quite some time, but regardless, Gor Mahia have a problem that has to be solved soon.

Goalkeeping department a worry

Ten goals conceded in five matches in all competitions is not what any coach would be happy about. About half of the goals have been brought about by defensive lapses. Since the departure of captain Harun Shakava to Nkana FC, K'Ogalo have struggled at the back.
On Sunday, Wellington Ochieng was partly responsible for the first USM goal and Maurice Ojwang' was bailed out twice. Coach Steven Polack has to address this problem or else it might end up costing him his job.

Defensive frailties a big concern

The body language from the players sent a negative message to the fans, stakeholders and management at large. There was no will to fight and it seemed they just honoured the game to appease the management and fans.
The club is financially struggling and players have not been paid for about two months or so. The players staged several boycotts in protest and it affected their preparations. K'Ogalo are mentally weak&nbsp;and vulnerable at the moment.

No motivation at the club

The former Zoo Jericho player has been doing well for Gor Mahia but from the wing. Recently, he has been playing in a more central role to fill the void in that position. Despite some decent performances previously, on Sunday the player failed to pass the real test.
Kipkirui squandered two real chances which a proper striker could have converted and went on to put an average performance. Everyone hopes Francis Afriyie will be fit soon enough to lead the line.

With about 25 minutes or so to go, Oualid Ardji and Geoffrey Ochieng were caught up in a brawl. The fans expected the referee to punish the latter, but when their calls fell on deaf ears, they opted for a negative approach; vandalising tens of seats and throwing them on the pitch.
Scenes were ugly, and if the match commissioner noted the incident in his report, it is the club that is going to suffer the consequences. It is high time the fans realised they are not doing the club any good by behaving in such a way.
