  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The United States international was given a much-needed break when being named among the substitutes for the weekend's Serie A clash with Empoli. His services were required at half-time, however, as the Rossoneri toiled against relegation-threatened opponents.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Milan’s cause was done few favours when Fikayo Tomori was sent off nine minutes into the second-half, but the hosts were also reduced to 10 men just past the hour mark. Within three minutes of Luca Marianucci being ordered from the field, Pulisic had picked out Rafael Leao at the back post for the opening goal.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Pulisic then went on to tee up Mexico international striker Santiago Gimenez for his first Milan goal since completing a transfer from Feyenoord during the winter window. Pulisic has become just the third American in the last 20 years to record multiple assists off the bench in one of Europe's top five leagues.

Weah, who is now in Italy alongside Pulisic at Milan’s rivals Juventus, was the first to achieve that feat in 2022 when on the books at Ligue 1 side Lille. Borussia Dortmund playmaker Reyna, who remains in Germany for now, repeated the trick a year later.

  • WHAT NEXT?

Pulisic has 10 goals and seven assists for Milan in the 2024-25 campaign. He has become a talisman for the San Siro side, with there still plenty of speculation to be found regarding a potential new contract for ‘Captain America’.
