Our analysis: Form of both teams

  • Score prediction - Forest 0-2 Manchester United
  • Goalscorers prediction - Manchester United: Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha

Nottingham Forest are having a very rough time of things and hope Sean Dyche can help them turn their form around. A victory over Porto in his first game was welcomed, but the subsequent defeat to Bournemouth extended their wait for a Premier League win. They’ll certainly have their hands full when Manchester United come to town.

Ruben Amorim is finally starting to see things click for his Red Devils, and they head to Nottinghamshire in search of a fourth straight win. Putting four past Brighton and Hove Albion in their last game was another big boost, but they did concede two as well. They’ll back themselves for another three points here, even if it comes without a clean sheet.

Probable lineups for Forest vs Manchester United

Forest expected lineup: Sels, Williams, Milenkovic, Murillo, Zinchenko, Anderson, Luiz, Ndoye, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi, Jesus

Manchester United expected lineup: Lammens, Maguire, de Ligt, Shaw, Diallo, Casemiro, Fernandes, Dalot, Mbeumo, Cunha, Sesko

United back in form

Manchester United fans are starting to feel optimistic again following a strong run, with the Red Devils winning four of their last five league games. They’re up to sixth, level on points with Manchester City, and some of their new signings are in impressive form. They’ll be full of confidence as they head to the City Ground.

With the hosts winless in their last eight Premier League matches, it’s easy to understand why the visitors are tipped to win. United have a big chance to jump into the top four this weekend, and they will be desperate to do so.

Harry Maguire could be back after he sat out the win over Brighton, but not many changes are expected. Up top, Benjamin Sesko will be relishing the chance to exploit one of the division’s weakest backlines.

Action at both ends

Though their general form has improved, the Red Devils are still struggling to keep clean sheets. The 2-0 win over Sunderland earlier this month was their only shutout of the campaign so far, and they’ve conceded far too many. Forest will sense a bit of an opportunity here.

That being said, the hosts have only scored five league goals this season. They’ve struggled at both ends of the pitch, and that’s obviously a concern for Dyche. However, United’s defensive vulnerabilities give Forest some reason to be optimistic.

Both teams have scored in 67% of the visitors’ games so far this season, and that jumps up to 75% away from home. Therefore, even though Forest don’t sit high on the BTTS table themselves, there’s a high chance of action at both ends here.

Mbeumo magic continues

It took him a little while to get going, but Bryan Mbeumo is proving to be a great signing for Amorim. The Cameroon international now has six goals and assists in 10 games, and has found the net three times in his last two matches. This has given him a huge confidence boost.

Sesko is seen as the bookies’ favourite to get on the scoresheet in this one, but it’s Mbeumo who has form on his side. Matheus Cunha could also be aiming to add to his tally after scoring last weekend.

We’re going for Mbeumo as anytime goalscorer up against a defence that’s conceded 25 goals across all competitions. The home side will need to take measures to contain the threat he presents.
