Tennessee Titans vs Indianapolis Colts NFL Preview: Team news, betting, tickets, live stream, Fantasy Football and more

The Indianapolis Colts travel to Nissan Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 21, for a Week 3 showdown with the Tennessee Titans.

The biggest story early in the NFL season has been Daniel Jones and the Indianapolis Colts, who have blasted out of the gate to a 2-0 start and currently sit atop the AFC South as Week 3 approaches.

Now, the Colts face their first divisional test of the year, traveling to Tennessee to take on the Titans. Rookie quarterback Cam Ward has had a rocky start to his NFL journey, but it’s worth noting his first two games came against tough opponents in the Broncos and Rams, hardly an easy baptism by fire.

Tennessee Titans team news

The Titans fell 33-19 to the Rams, leading 13-10 at halftime before surrendering 23 points in the second half.

QB Ward finished 19-of-33 for 175 yards and a touchdown, while Tony Pollard topped the ground game again with 92 yards on 20 carries. Rashod Bateman and Epic Ayomanor paced the receiving corps with 57 and 56 yards, respectively, with Ayomanor adding a score.

Despite the strong rushing numbers, the Colts’ run defense stats are somewhat misleading. Their opponents are averaging just 18 rush attempts per game, the lowest in the NFL—skewed heavily by the Dolphins, who ran only 12 times after falling behind 20-0 in Week 1. Denver ran 24 times for 118 yards in Week 2, showing that the opportunity for ground gains exists. Tennessee's Pollard and their offensive line will need to capitalize on these openings.

Tennessee's injury report includes DT T’Vondre Sweat, OT JC Latham, WR Bryce Oliver, G Kevin Zeitler, and S Kevin Winston Jr., all listed as questionable for Week 3.

Indianapolis Colts team news

In Week 2, the Colts pulled off a thrilling 29-28 win over the Denver Broncos, staying competitive from start to finish. Indianapolis trailed by just one point at halftime and sealed the victory in dramatic fashion. QB Daniel Jones completed 23 of 34 passes for 316 yards and a touchdown while adding a rushing score. Jonathan Taylor led the ground attack with 25 carries for 165 yards, and Tyler Warren paced the receiving corps with four catches for 79 yards in the close contest.

Jones has been sharp out of the gate this season, racking up 588 passing yards and two touchdowns through the first two games. Offensive coordinator Shane Steichen has done a solid job scheming and putting Jones in comfortable situations, but inevitably, even the hottest start comes with the risk of a few growing pains.

The Colts released their initial Week 3 injury report ahead of their trip to Tennessee. Some good news: CB Charvarius Ward participated fully in practice while still in concussion protocol, and DE Laiatu Latu (hamstring) returned to practice after missing the last two sessions. RB Tyler Goodson (elbow) also practiced fully, while LB Austin Ajiake was full-go and C Bernhard Raimann limited due to illness. On the downside, WR Tyler Warren (toe) and Josh Downs (ankle) did not practice. Key IR players remain CB Jaylon Jones and LB Jaylen Carlies.

Titans vs Colts Fantasy Football

Daniel Jones (18.6 projected fpts W3) has been firing on all cylinders to start the season, dominating his first two opponents. In Week 1 against the Dolphins, he went 22-of-29 for 272 yards with a touchdown, adding two rushing scores on seven carries for 26 yards. He followed that up with a 23-of-34, 316-yard outing with a touchdown pass and a short 2-yard rushing score against the Broncos.

Jones appears to have reinvigorated his career, and momentum is clearly on his side. He now faces a divisional foe that’s struggled out of the gate. Adding to his advantage, Jones has an elite weapon in Jonathan Taylor (15.8 projected fpts W3), who has been a dual-threat all season. Taylor rushed for 71 yards and added 27 receiving yards in Week 1, then exploded for 165 rushing yards and 50 receiving yards with a touchdown against Denver.

On the flip side, rookie quarterback Cam Ward (13.9 projected fpts W3) has faced a rough introduction to the NFL. Expectations are high, but so far, he’s struggled to find consistency. In his debut against the Broncos, Ward completed just 12-of-28 passes for 112 yards, tossing a fumble. He fared slightly better against the Rams with 19 completions on 33 attempts for 175 yards and a touchdown, but the overall performance has been underwhelming.

Ward now faces a Colts defense that has been stingy and opportunistic, forcing four turnovers in their first two games (three against Miami, one against Denver).

Titans vs Colts Game Predictions

The Indianapolis Colts enter Week 3 with a prime chance to start 3-0 for the first time since 2009. Oddsmakers give them a 67.4% probability of victory, while the Tennessee Titans sit at 32.3%, with a tiny slice left for the possibility of a tie.

For Indianapolis, the path to a win begins in the trenches. The Colts’ offensive line has surrendered sacks on just 3.1 percent of dropbacks, fourth-best in the league, and their defensive front is well-positioned to exploit Tennessee’s banged-up O-line. If top cornerback Charvarius Ward returns, Indianapolis should have the firepower to stifle the Titans’ aerial attack and keep their unbeaten run intact.
